Selected NSLDI Keynote Speaker

Alex Belisario (she/her) is the Executive Director for College Student Life at UC Santa Cruz. In this role, Alex is like Dumbledore for a campus that is a bit like Hogwarts (10 residential colleges within a large public university). She works with staff to provide a dynamic and supportive experience for students in their lives at the university. Alex got her start in higher education as a Resident Advisor at UC San Diego and attended her first Southern RAP in 1991. She is a proud Triton, Falcon, and Banana Slug having spent her adult working life at colleges and universities, primarily in California. Alex has made WACUHO her professional home, building lifelong friendships with outstanding colleagues.

Alex is also a proud geek and collaborates with a group of higher education professionals, known as GeekEd, to present on current issues at San Diego Comic Con related to a plethora of geeky topics and how they intersect with our work (Marvels and Mandalorian all the way!). In her spare time, Alex is an avid crafter and takes great pride in the ability to “bake people happy.” She also is a devoted cat mama and a foster mama for over 150 kittens and counting.
