WACE 2020 CANCELLED
A MESSAGE FROM WACUHO PRESIDENT, EMILY SANDOVAL
After much deliberation, I am writing to inform you that WACE 2020 will be canceled due to Covid-19. I thank you for your patience as we worked to identify the best decision for the financial health of WACUHO. I am happy to report that all hotel bookings will be refunded and all of our association deposits have been refunded with the caveat that we host WACE 2022 at the Westin in Rancho Mirage. That’s right…we are excited to announce that we have a location for WACE 2022!
The Westin will cancel all reservations made through the group code and master reservations list. If you did not book via the designated housing link, then you are responsible to make your cancellation and are responsible for the terms and conditions for your reservation.
This was not a decision we entered into lightly and a great deal of time was spent over the last week communicating with the Executive Committee and the Conference Co-Chairs. I want to take this opportunity to thank Chrissy Bender and Andy Plumley for their work over the past year. I appreciate the work that they did, along with the conference committees chaired by:
Roselyn Gardea-Campos and Linda Aguilera (Host)
Katie Pratt & Rayana Poole (Programs)
John Godfrey and Samuel Jones (Corporate Relations)
John-Paul Wolfe (Exhibits)
Kevin Chastain & Zane Hight (Marketing & Registration)
WACE 2020 was going to be an amazing conference thanks to the dedication of this team along with their committee members. We were very excited to share a new schedule with you and try new things to change the flow of the conference. And we also had 64 program sessions planned and ready to go thanks to the talented members of our association and we had our vendor colleagues signed up to provide a fun morning in the exhibit hall. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to Andy, Chrissy and the team. It was a pleasure working with you all and I will miss the opportunity to publicly recognize and thank you all at conference.
That being said, the Executive Committee is meeting again next week to look at technological capabilities. We will be in touch very soon with plans for an online election, virtual business meeting, and perhaps even a virtual program session or two.
In the meantime, the Central Office will start processing refunds for WACE registrants and exhibitors. As ACUHO-I is also navigating the cancellation of onsite TPE and moving the entire operation to their virtual platform, please be patient as they work through the refund process for WACE.
Emily Sandoval, WACUHO President
